The Phobians have commenced negotiations to secure the signature of the talented defensive midfielder for the 2022/23 season’s campaign, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.
Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak are currently in talks to sign former AshantiGold SC midfielder Stephen Owusu Banahene on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old middleman is currently unattached after mutually terminating his contract with demoted Premier League side AshantiGold SC last month.
Banahene was among the twenty-one (21) whose bans were temporary lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) earlier this month.
This makes him eligible to complete a switch to any football club of his choice in the ongoing transfer window.
Kickgh.com can exclusively report that management of Hearts of Oak are currently in talks with Owusu Banahene and his representatives over a possible move before the transfer window shuts down on Monday, 22nd August, 2022.
Hearts of Oak are currently busy on the transfer market looking for a highly-rated defensive midfielder following the unavailablity of injured Abdul Nurudeen Aziz and Sulley Ali Muntari, who has decided to leave the club following the expiration of his contract.
The Phobians have not backed off the chase for Black Galaxies midfielder Razak Kasim from Great Olympics and ex-AshantiGold SC’s Eric Esso.
Hearts of Oak are currently preparing for the 2022/23 season’s campaign with the acquisition of Junior Kaaba, Konadu Yiadom, William Bumekpor, Zakaria Yakubu and Eric Ofori Antwi.
Hearts of Oak will compete in the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup scheduled to commence in September.
